Digital Audio Matrices


IDEA is a fully digital audio routing switcher that offers
a great number of various audio input and output interface
modules. Input signals with any format
(analog, digital, 2 Mbps, ATM, MADI) are converted to
the internal standard of the routing switcher (48 kHz, 32 bit, according to AES/EBU), and the output signals can be presented to the customer in any format he requires. The switching functions are realised by means of a memory switch: All input signal samples are stored into the memory, and the outputs that require a certain input signal read the corresponding samples from the memory. This method allows routing switchers to be realised with practically unlimited quantities of input and output interfaces. All desirable audio processing functions are performed inside the routing switcher by means of digital signal processors (DSP). They feed the processed audio signals back into the memory switch, so that any output interface has access to them if required. The DSPs can realise any mixer console functions required, and the number of DSPs installed is practically unlimited. IDEA can integrate as many mixer console functions as needed. The consoles themselves are only remote control elements of the DSPs installed inside the router. IDEA can be subdivided into several satellite routers and/or satellite concentrators
